Military Pants Made of Japanese Traditional Paper 'washi'

Hi there, this is Kaneko from CONFECT staff. I started this blog today in the hope that I can share with you as it is what I felt when I actually touched and tried on the fabrics.

The focus this time was on military pants made of washi yarn, which were released as a featured item for the 24ss. Please start with the video of the model wearing it!

These pants are made of an interesting fabric with cotton threads for the warp and Japanese paper threads for the weft. The fabric alone is topical enough, but the fact that the type was based on 50s US Air Force utility trousers made it even more interesting.

It is said that threads produced from paper have been around since the Nara period in Japan. I think this is the very best part of fashion, mixing different times and countries, where traditional techniques handed down from the ancient times are incorporated into military wear molds.

Unlike 100% cotton, the surface of the fabric has a dry, rough, and unique feel, while the reverse side is smooth and directly against the skin due to the use of Japanese paper yarn in the weft. I personally thought this point was very good!

Model Height: 170 cm, 5'6.9”

This is what it looks like when I wear a size 4. The wider silhouette looks more pronounced with just about 3cm larger in both length and thigh circumference. If you are around my height and want to wear these pants more loosely, I recommend choosing a size 4.

If I were to create a coordinated look using this item, it would be something like this! I paired it with thick pants and a loose-fitting raised linen jacket so that the overall silhouette is connected. Shoes are sneakers, and a cap is worn for a street style coordinate.
